|Katy Perry: fashion icon.|
Four acts enter, but only one leaves champion. That's right kids, it's time for Music Video Mayhem! Competing this week, we've got industry heavyweight, Katy Perry and UK heroes, Kaiser Chiefs taking on Aussie favourites, Art Vs Science and Boy and Bear. Let's see the clips...
Kaiser Chiefs - Little Shocks
Yes... Yes, YeS, YES! The Kaiser Chiefs are back too?! Brilliant. Sure, the video for 'Little Shocks' isn't going to win them any awards, including this one, but the song is a ton of fun and has me eagerly anticipating their new album.
Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)
Random cameos galore! Blaine and Kurt from Glee, Hanson, Kenny G (I will admit, I laughed out loud) and of course... Rebecca Black. Is this a sign that her fifteen minutes will extend to a life long career, delivering hit after hit single? I sure hope so. If she can deliver a song as amaaazing as 'Friday' one more time, she could be a serious Grammy contender very soon. The sarcasm switch will now be turned to off. Katy Perry has taken her four previous singles from Teenage Dream to the top of the American charts, but can she make it five in a row with 'Last Friday Night?' You've got to give her credit, no one else has done that in a long, long time. As for the video, outside of the awesome Rebecca Black cameo (is the switch turned on or off?), I can't say I was the biggest fan. What did you think?
Art Vs Science - Higher
You know you're in for a treat when a video starts with a flying kick to the face. Art Vs Science capture a bit of the 90s Beastie Boys magic and pull off one of the funnest, coolest clips of 2011. 'Higher' has everything; aliens, dance sequences, skydiving, wrist watch laser beams and of course... flying kicks to the face! Outstanding.
Boy and Bear - Feeding Line
It must be said, the quality of music videos that are coming from Australian acts has become so much better lately. In the last couple of weeks we've had The Grates, Sneaky Sound System, Art vs Science and now Boy and Bear deliver creative awesomeness with perfect cinematography. 'Feeding Line' isn't exactly fun like 'Higher,' but it's definitely going to leave a big smile on your face.
WINNER - Art Vs Science
Flying kick to the face. That's going to win every time.
