The K-Tizzle Sizzle - The Joke Is Over! The Jig Is Up!

The Jig Is Up!

I sat in the audience at comedian Ross Noble’s show on Saturday night feeling frustrated. Sexually. Wait, no. I mean, yes I am. But that’s a story for another week! I was frustrated at Noble’s inability to “let it go”.

Sure, I appreciate that when you get some laughs you string out the joke a little bit longer. But ole Ross took it way too far. Seriously, he spent a good 10 minutes repeating the words “sweet sweet piggy titties” in different accents and to the tune of different songs. Don’t ask.

Unlike Ross there are others who have reconciled with the need to move on, to give it up, to let it go. Let’s look at some of the moments in music that have made us go “well, duh”.

Britney Spears

Britters maintained for years that she was a virgin. But we all knew better than that. Were we really all that surprised when Justin Timberlake said that he ‘hit’ that baby, more than one time?

Creed

We can love God and be rock’n’roll, they said. We can wear leather and rosary beads, they said. I’m paraphrasing of course, but I’m not far off. But all that incessant preachy preachy talk from Creed never quite rang true for me, which is why I didn’t bat an eyelid when front man Scott Stapp announced that he’d enjoyed too much of the blood of Christ and packed himself off to rehab.

Mudvayne

Unfortunately for Mudvayne they became popular right after Slipknot, so the face paint thing already felt redundant. They agreed too and eventually ditched the gimmick. Either that or they weren’t prepared to spend any more money on Proactiv to keep their skin so fresh and so clean.

Pink

Ooo, the lady with Pink hair is called Pink. I see what you did there. Yawn.

Katy Perry

When Katy Perry and Russell Brand tied the knot people around the world placed their bets for how long the union would last. The chorus of “told you so” could be heard loud and clear the day they announced their divorce. P.S. Russell, call me.
