The K-Tizzle Sizzle - At the Copa, Copacabana...

... shut up!
by Katie Langley

After subjecting my Mother to last week’s blog about viral tunes, she suggested that this week I focus on songs that could be used to torture people. I think it was ‘Crazy Frog’ that pushed her over the edge!

A number of shopping centres both here and overseas have used music as a way of curbing “anti-social behaviour”. In Birmingham they play Bach, Mozart and Beethoven to those troublesome teens. Upon implementation they noticed a reduction in numbers within days. Classical music has also proved to be a deterrent at Westfield Knox. The New Zealander’s have tried a different tact, however. They pipe Barry Manilow through the sound system to keep loitering teens away.

Clearly I’m not in the target market, because this all sounds like a relaxing time to me. Although, I do admit that Barry Manilow might break my spirit. I personally think that I can come up with many more annoying songs....

‘You’re Beautiful’ – James Blunt

‘Who Let the Dogs Out’ – Baha Men

‘Cotton Eye Joe’ – Rednex

‘Chihuahua’ – DJ BoBo

‘Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm’ – Crash Test Dummies

‘Look At Me’ – Geri Halliwell

‘Come on Eileen’ – Dexys Midnight Runners

‘Strawberry Kisses’ – Nikki Webster

‘Fireflies’ – Owl City

Are there any others that you would add to the list?
