The K-Tizzle Sizzle - I'm starting with the...

Did you wake up on New Year's Day feeling like P. Diddy?

After missing the countdown to 2013 due to the fact that I was violently spewing after unintentionally ingesting a roofie I decided I was going to do things a little differently for 2014. I made the decision not to drink on New Year’s Eve, and even enjoyed a green juice for breakfast on New Year’s Day. Controversial, I know! But isn’t that what the new year is all about? Reinventing yourself? Don’t worry, I won’t become a kale munching yogi, but I would like to swim more, read more, see more live music, and have sex with a bearded man.

Given that it’s Australian music month, I thought I’d shine the spotlight on some soap “stars” (a term I use loosely) who have reinvented themselves. Or at least attempted to.

Holly Valance

Before Holly kissed everyone she was cast as the loveable “Flick” on Neighbours.  Was she loveable? I can’t really remember. But I do know there was some sort of sored love triangle with Billy and Anne. Oh, the memories. Her time in the music scene was relatively short lived, however, and she jumped ship to film after two album releases.

Minogue sisters

Kylie or Dannii? Does it really matter? These pint sized princesses both got their head start on Neighbours and Home and Away respectively. Once known for their large hair, now known for firm butts and a whole heap of music.

Jason Donovan

I couldn’t mention Kylie Minogue without Jason Donovan. After all, they played lovers on Neighbours and then went on to release duet ‘Especially For You’. Since then he’s done a lot of drugs, popped out a kid (well, his baby mama did) and undergone hair transplantation.

Natalie Imbruglia

Natalie released one of my favourite 90’s songs, ‘Torn’. But before all the angst, she was Beth on Neighbours. 'Torn' was a huge success, even in the US. Although it was knocked from its perch by the Goo Goo Doll’s hit ‘Iris’. She released a couple of other albums, although they were never as successful. She was married to that dude from Silverchair for a while, and did a stint on The X Factor. Beyond that, it’s all a bit of a mystery.

Delta Goodrem

Who could forget Nina Tucker on Neighbours? Well, I guess I could. I had to Google the name. Ole Delta is someone we love to hate, but I have to give credit where it’s due – she has done well for herself (said with gritted teeth). And hey, she even got to bang that cute Irish guy (stop judging me) for a few years.
