The K-Tizzle Sizzle - With A Little Help From My Friends

Dave Grohl and Lorde. Apparently they became friends down at the tennis court.

With A Little Help From My Friends
by Katie Langley

Look here, I can’t be a complete bitch all of the time. It’s exhausting. It’s about time I did a sizzle of love and appreciation.

Maybe it’s the wisdom that comes with age, or the pills that I’m taking, but I’m just so thankful for my family and friends. I can feel the silent gasps as you try to figure out if I’m being sincere or sarcastic. Look, the pills part was a lie, but otherwise I’m totally serious. Yes, it’s true; my heart is not completely cold and black – only my wardrobe.

After a fairly tumultuous twelve months I’ve had two moments in the last week where the love and appreciation for my family and friends has really hit home for me. I won’t go into details on the first moment because it’s boring and sappy, but of course totally appreciated (thanks Jess, Mum and Dad). The second moment was on a car ride with a close friend where we found ourselves stupidly excited by running cows. Yes, running cows. Think about it. Have you ever seen running cows? In any event, it’s made me realise – these are the things we do for each other. We cry together. We laugh at running cows together. We are there for each other through the best and the worst times. We’re there to remind our friends they really did own a black floor length trench coat and they shouldn’t try to deny their gothic past (hi Matt D).

So, in perhaps one of the only sappy blog posts I’ll ever do, because, let’s face it, being judgemental makes for much more entertaining reading, I dedicate this one to my family and friends for being awesome and loving me through good hair days and bad.

Rihanna – ‘Umbrella’

Friends, fam, I don’t have an umbrella on me right now, but if I did, and if it was raining, I’d totally ask you to stand under my umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh.

The Rembrandts – ‘I'll Be There For You’

What better way to give a shout out to my main peeps than with the theme tune from Friends? Actually, there a probably a stack of other ways, but just roll with me on this.

Vitamin C – ‘Graduation (Friends Forever)’

How many of you heard this at your high school graduation and never thought you’d ever hear it again? Well, ha, surprise.

Iron Maiden – ‘Blood Brothers’

“We’re blood brothers, we’re blood brothers”. C’mon, take out that hair, get out your lighter and sing it with me. Or just watch it quietly and think about how you’re glad camouflage army pants aren’t in fashion any more.

Paris Hilton - 'My Best Friend'

I would, like, never say TTYN to my BFF’s. Confused? Google it.
