The K-Tizzle Sizzle - Are You Ready...

Yes, that's Robbie Williams touching his ball.

... For Some Football?
by Katie Langley

Over time I’m sure you’ve come to expect that my updates will simply be narcissistic waffling or vitriol about someone/something that’s pissed me off. Whilst you should rest assured that I have plenty of material up my sleeve rant wise (particularly in the ‘someone that’s pissed me off’ department), I think it’s always healthy to maintain an air of surprise. That’s why tonight I present to you… World Cup theme songs. Yes. Gasp.

"Sport" and "Katie" are not typically words you would associate, so I confess that I have not seen any of the World Cup thus far. However, if the theme songs are any indication of the fun to be had then I'm on board.

Ricky Martin - 'La Copa De La Vida (The Cup of Life)'

It's hard to pin point the exact moment I developed a soft spot for Ricky Martin, but I think it was around the time he was encouraging us to shake our bon-bons. I'm not really sure what's happening in this song other than a whole lot of "ole, ole, ole!". But that's the beauty of it, right? Its pure simplicity.

Shakira - 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)'

I'm not sure this inspires me to kick as ball as much as it does drink a nice fruity cocktail (or six) and try and recall my Zumba moves. Damn you Shakira, your hips don't lie.

Arrow - 'Hot Hot Hot'

Are these songs suppose to be sporty? I'm not really getting the sporty vibe. But you know what, that's OK with me.

Herbert Grönemeyer - 'Zeit Dass Sich Was Dreht (Celebrate The Day)'

Those who know of my love of Germany would not be surprised that I've included this bad boy. You may also not be surprised to know that this is my favourite World Cup theme song. It manages to strike a balance between emotion and party. Ha. Right. OK. It's true - I only like it because it's German.

Pitbull - 'We Are The One (Ole Ola)'

It's hard to believe but Pitbull does not say "Mr World Wide" once in this song.
