Tom Hanks, you can call me. Maybe.
I Really Like You... Genuinely
by Katie Langley
From time to time my friends and family will send me messages asking me to sizzle about particular topics or songs. They typically hope that I will say publicly what they really want to – that song/film clip/issue is a piece of shit. And yes, more often than not I will agree and happily unleash my inner bitch.
My most recent request came from my sister. She sent me a message asking if I had seen the film clip for Carly Rae Jepsen’s new song ‘I Really Like You’. When I told her I hadn’t, and asked if it was any good she replied simply with “Noooo. Sizzle it”.
I loaded up the video, expecting (and hoping) for an absolute train crash. What I was met with was Tom Hanks lip syncing. And I enjoyed every moment of it. I mean, it’s Tom Hanks lip syncing – how could someone not love this?
It’s actually quite nice to have a bit of a tongue-in-cheek, silly film clip, rather than an over produced low grade porno with bootylicious babes in next-to-nothing sauntering around dudes with gold chains and douche-y cars.
Sure, the film clip for ‘I Really Like You’ is a bit cheesy. But it totally works with the song, and Tom Hanks gives you all those warm and fuzzy feelings in the chest region.
The song on the other hand. Well, that really is a piece of shit.
